About This Position
The Driver Manager is responsible for the primary contact for a group of Drivers. The major components of this role are to establish and maintain sound business relationships with each driver, work with them to achieve and exceed expected business results, help them solve all business and personal problems and conduct all worked involved daily dispatch. The Driver manager is also responsible to train and develop each driver and retain all who can operate safely, provide excellent customer service, and achieve high utilization and optimal productivity.
As the Driver Manager, you must work with each driver to achieve optimal business results in:
a) Customer service
b) Utilization productivity
c) Driver compensation (weekly earnings)
d) Appropriate home time
e) Key Operating costs (e.g. fuel, maintenance, accidents, out of route miles)
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Immediately and professionally solves all business and personal problems for each driver
- Is responsible for accurate timely and complete movements, daily driver updates, and proper information in the computer. These items are critical to ensure that we have an effective dispatch system
- Manages fuel cots by working with drivers to utilize the company fuel program and eliminate unnecessary idling
- Coordinates equipment maintenance problems with the appropriate member(s) of the maintenance department
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit or department as well as with other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information
- Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace
- Cooperates with, participates in and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the companys compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an establish schedule; complies information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate company personnel
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area or to request from customers, other company personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy
Requirements:
- 3+ years of driver management experience
- 3+ years managing driver schedules, routes, and maintenance tasks efficiently
- 3+ years of experience with logistics software and tools for route planning and performance tracking
