SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Manager, Legislative Affairs develops and executes advocacy strategy to advance family medicine priorities before the United States Congress and external stakeholders. This position proactively identifies priority issues and opportunities to engage with policymakers, in collaboration with the Government Relations team and other internal divisions. This includes monitoring and responding to federal legislation, directly lobbying Congressional offices, drafting written materials including Congressional testimony and letters, and developing other content to support advocacy activities. This position maintains relationships with external stakeholders and represents the organization in coalitions and other meetings. The position aids in the development and implementation of grassroots strategy and strategic political giving, including attending political events on behalf of FamMedPAC.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Legislative Affairs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of four years work experience. Must have knowledge of health policy and federal legislative and regulatory processes, including understanding of health workforce and practice issues, and public health. In addition, excellent communication skills; the ability to manage multiple projects on short timelines; provide timely assistance related to AAFP members and chapter inquiries, commission/governance activities on legislative issues; and the ability to present to a variety of audiences at national, state and regional meetings and to Congressional staff and legislators required.

Compensation Salary Range

$99,638.00 - $140,918.00
