About This Position
Primary Purpose: The Marketing Assistant supports the execution of marketing initiatives, campaign logistics, content creation, and administrative coordination. This entry-to-mid-level role is ideal for someone who is organized, creative, and eager to grow their marketing skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Campaign & Event Support
- Coordinate logistics for marketing trips, including booking meetings and creating itineraries.
- Help set up and provide on-the-ground support at trade shows and special events.
- Maintain and update the master marketing calendar.
Social Media Content Support
- Assist in executing the social media strategy by drafting posts, sourcing content, scheduling updates, and monitoring engagement across platforms under the direction of the Marketing Manager.
Content Creation & Communication
- Write and edit content for email campaigns, social media, and internal communications.
- Assist with creating presentation materials and printed collateral.
- Schedule and publish content across digital platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, website).
Administrative Support
- Manage appointment scheduling and assist in meeting preparation.
- Help maintain CRM databases with updated client and prospect information.
Design & Brand Support
- Assist with the creation of branded templates and marketing materials.
- Help manage inventory and fulfillment of SWAG and promotional items.
Digital & Web Maintenance
- Make basic updates to the website and assist with SEO content as needed.
- Monitor analytics and help compile performance reports.
Research & Insights
- Conduct competitor and market research as directed by the Marketing Manager.
- Support price comparison research and reporting.
Other Duties
- Participate in marketing team meetings and contribute ideas.
- Handle other tasks and projects as assigned by the Marketing Manager.

- Written & Verbal Communication: Professional communication skills; able to draft and edit content for review.
- Collaboration: Works effectively with internal teams and external vendors; receptive to feedback and direction.
- Analytical Support: Ability to gather data, track basic metrics, and assist in preparing reports.
- Brand Consistency: Understanding of brand standards and ability to follow established visual and messaging guidelines.
- Digital Familiarity: Working knowledge of social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and email marketing platforms.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; familiarity with tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, CRM systems such as Quick Base or Salesforce, and project management tools such as Asana or Trello.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to occasionally travel or assist with marketing events as needed.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Strong professionalism and discretion when handling company or client information.
Minimum Experience Required
To perform this job successfully, the following experience is required for the Marketing Assistant:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- 2+ years of marketing, communications, or design-focused experience.
- Demonstrated experience creating branded marketing materials, including social media graphics, presentation decks, email layouts, digital assets, and print collateral.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) required.
- Familiarity with website content updates and basic visual formatting within WordPress or similar platforms preferred.
- Experience in the maritime or healthcare industry is preferred, but not required.
MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND: The sustained application of mind and eyes in performing the essential functions of the Marketing Assistant job requires concentrated mental and/or visual attention; the work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications. Additionally, intense and/or exacting mental and/or visual attention may be required due to visualizing, planning, laying out, or otherwise performing very involved and complex work.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The Marketing Assistant job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions with some general office noise.
