Job Title: Barre Instructor

Directly Reports To: Corporate Director of Wellness

Employment Status: 1099 Contractor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Barre Instructor leads high-energy, music-driven, 50- minute group/personal fitness classes focused on isometric movements, strength, and flexibility, typically at a ballet barre. Key responsibilities include creating safe, effective, and choreographed workouts, providing modifications, and fostering an inclusive, motivating atmosphere for all levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Class Leadership: Deliver 50-minute, high-energy classes that emphasize proper form, technique, and core strength.
  • Choreography & Music: Plan and prepare routines to specific music, ensuring proper, rhythmic, and safe movements, often required learning new choreography quarterly.
  • Modifications & Coaching: Provide verbal cues, demonstrations, and physical adjustments to help participants of all skill levels improve and avoid injury.
  • Client Engagement: Build relationships with members, promote a positive, welcoming, and inclusive studio atmosphere, and motivate participants during class.
  • Studio Maintenance: Clean and organize the studio, equipment, and props before and after classes.
  • Training & Development: Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and team meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Experience: Previous experience as a barre student or instructor is strongly required. A background in dance, dance, fitness, cheerleading, or similar movement disciplines is a plus.
  • Physical Fitness: High level of energy, strength and stamina to demonstrate movements, which can include jumping, bending, and holding positions.
  • Musicality: Strong ability to keep rhythm and match movement to music.
  • Communication: Clear verbal communication, with the ability to offer constructive, encouraging, and safe feedback.

APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE AND HOURS:

Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:

Soliciting gratuities from members or guests is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Gratuities include items such as cash, favors, gifts, tickets to events and other forms of non-financial compensation.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
  • Current CPR/AED, Barre Certification such as IBBFA, Barre Intensity, and American Barre Technique or related programs.
