CHMC- Adolescent Mental Health Unit- Occupational Therapist- Full time - Day shift (Shift specifics will be determined based on operational needs. May include some weekends and holidays.) -Req 9161
Pay Range $36.54-$48.41*

Job Summary:
North Star Health Alliance is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and New York State (NYS) licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a dynamic healthcare team. The OT is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing treatment programs for patients facing physical, developmental, emotional, or social challenges that affect their ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs). This position is vital in helping patients achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life through therapeutic activities, adaptive strategies, and assistive technologies.
Essential Functions:

Patient Evaluation & Planning: Evaluate patient functional abilities and limitations, and develop individualized, client-centered treatment plans in collaboration with medical providers and the interdisciplinary care team.
Intervention & Treatment: Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, including therapeutic use of activities, exercises, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
Documentation & Progress Monitoring: Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with all standards.
Collaboration & Education:

Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, strategies for improving daily tasks, and techniques to promote independence and safety.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (PTs, SLPs, Nurses, etc.) to support holistic patient care.

Education & Licensing:
-
Master’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
Valid and current Occupational Therapy license in NYS (permit based practice may be considered).
CPR certification (BLS for healthcare providers; AHA preferred).

Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Preferred: Experience in acute, subacute, and outpatient settings.

Supervision: May supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA).
Mentorship: Supervision of Occupational Therapy students is encouraged.
Reporting: Reports to the Director of Therapy Services or designee.
