Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant – Outreach supports Care Alliance Health Center’s mission by extending high-quality clinical services beyond the walls of the clinic and into the community. This role is outreach-dominant, with some in-clinic coverage responsibilities as needed, and requires a motivated, flexible, and patient-centered Medical Assistant who thrives in fast-paced, nontraditional care settings and works effectively with diverse populations. The Medical Assistant – Outreach provides clinical support during community-based outreach activities including health fairs, pop-up clinics, mobile clinics, and other community events, while upholding the American Association of Medical Assistants Code of Ethics and Care Alliance’s commitment to equitable, compassionate care regardless of ability to pay.
This position reports directly to the ADON and the DON and requires the ability to work across Care Alliance clinic sites and outreach locations based on organizational needs. Evening availability and the ability to work up to two (2) weekend events per month is required. Outreach activities may occur throughout Cuyahoga County, with an emphasis on serving Care Alliance service areas. This role is critical to expanding access to care, building community trust, and connecting individuals to ongoing medical services.
Competencies:

· Greet and check in patients arriving at the clinic.
· Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
· Prepare patients to be seen by provider.
· Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physician’s instructions to patients.
· Administer medications/immunizations as directed by a provider.
· Collect and prepare lab specimens.
· Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
· Perform basic lab tests.
· Assist with medical exams and procedures.
· Provide proper documentation in patient medical records (i.e., collecting correct demographic and health information from patients)
· Assist with intake and discharge functions.
· Keep outreach/clinic areas clean and organized to provide a safe environment.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Required:
- Must have certification from a medical assistant program.
- One to two years of recent experience in a medical setting.
- Have a high school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
- A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures (CPT , ICD-10) reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems, preferably EPIC
