JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Manager - Dental supports departmental leadership in overseeing day-to-day operations and staff within their assigned area of responsibility. This individual is accountable for achieving established goals, applying sound judgment to assess and escalate issues as appropriate, and ensuring high-quality performance in alignment with organizational standards. The Assistant Manager contributes to the execution of departmental and strategic initiatives, fostering a positive work environment and building constructive relationships. This role supports the implementation of the mission and vision by promoting operational excellence and collaborative leadership.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Resolves customer and staff conflicts in a timely and effective manner, escalating concerns to departmental leadership as appropriate to ensure resolution and service continuity.Analyzes current workflows and processes, communicating and promoting best practices to ensure consistency and operational efficiency.Communicates clear performance expectations, collaborates with staff to set goals aligned with organizational initiatives, and supports efforts to achieve timely and effective outcomes.Maintains strong working relationships with internal teams, departmental and organizational leaders, and key stakeholders to support collaboration and communication.Oversees compliance with applicable regulatory standards within the assigned area of responsibility.Directly supervises clinical operations and associated staff to ensure consistency and efficiency.Manages clinical staff scheduling and staffing levels to meet patient care needs while adhering to established budgetary guidelines.Provides leadership, mentorship, coaching, and education to staff, fostering professional development and supporting performance aligned with organizational standards.Supports departmental leadership in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic goals in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.Assists in the disciplinary process and contributes to staff performance appraisals to ensure accountability and professional growth.Develops, revises, and communicates policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.Serves as a technical resource to staff, offering subject matter expertise and appropriate education to ensure competency and quality.Assists in managing departmental expenses to meet financial goals and support organizational productivity outcomes; to include supply inventory, management and ordering. Assisting with equipment function, repair/replacementPerforms clinical or technical job functions within the scope of their practice or licensure, as required by departmental needs.Maintains strict adherence to scheduled work hours with regular and reliable attendance.Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of experience in the technical function of the role (as a dental assistant or hygienist), including at least two years in a leadership position demonstrating effective leadership and team-building capabilities.Associate’s degree in Business, Management, or a technical field related to the position, with a minimum of three years of experience in the technical function of the role (as a dental assistant or hygienist), including at least one year in a leadership position demonstrating effective leadership and team-building capabilities.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a technical field related to the position, with a minimum of one year of experience in the technical function of the role (as a dental assistant or hygienist), including at least one year in a leadership position demonstrating effective leadership and team-building capabilities.


CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES

Certified Dental Assistant (DANB) or Registered Dental Hygienist preferred.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), per FHC guidelines.
