If your answer is yes, then let's talk. Handex is preparing for new projects throughout 2026 and seeking Field Filter Press Operators for our Industrial Services Travel Team.
As a Filter Press Operator, you will assist with Industrial projects in dewatering and processing operations at our client's sites in the North/Southeast and Midwest regions.

What will be my responsibilities?
• Under the direction of the PM or site foreman, you will operate and oversee filter press systems (plate & frame, recessed chamber, membrane) with minimal supervision.
• Optimize chemical conditioning programs to improve dewatering performance and cake solids. Adjust feed pressures, cycle times, and dosing to maximize throughput and minimize downtime. Manage full press cycles including start-up, filling, pressing, discharge, and cloth washing.
• Inspect and maintain plates, gaskets, and filter cloths; perform cleaning and replacements as needed. Diagnose and resolve issues such as poor cake release, leaks, blinding, and uneven loading. Coordinate sludge feed systems, pumps, and auxiliary equipment for stable operation. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on presses, pumps, and piping.
• Track key operational data (cycle times, pressures, solids, chemical usage). Safely handle polymers, coagulants, and other conditioning agents. Manage sludge handling and disposal. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Learn and follow all safety protocols (confined space, lockout/tagout, site requirements) at all times.
• Support mobilization/demobilization and keep work areas clean and organized
• Accurately maintain and promptly process expenses and timesheets.
• Consistently represent Handex in a professional manner while assigned to projects, collaborating effectively with teammates, and maintaining respectful and positive working relationships with the team.
Requirements:Skills needed for project success:
- High school diploma/GED.
- 3 years of experience required to operate and maintain filter presses for sludge removal of basins, ponds and lagoons in an industrial environment.
- Commit to project duration and work a 5/6-day work week and 12-hour shifts (day/night as needed). Flexibility with a rotational schedule and overtime until project completion.
- Valid driver license in good standing and willingness to travel to client’s project sites as required.
- Comfortable being in an industrial setting both indoors and outside, confined spaces as well as being able to lift 50 lbs or more.
- TWIC card and OSHA 40.
- Excellent customer service skills, reliability and dependability along with a can-do attitude is a must.
- Required to pass pre-employment background checks (physical/drug/alcohol/criminal.

Salary Range:
$25.00 to $28.00 an hour plus OT.
