Job Description
Job Title: Facilities Technician
Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt
Pay Rate: $29.08/hour
Reports to: Director of Facilities & Maintenance
Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is looking to hire a full-time Facilities Technician (Tech). Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Tech will work collaboratively with other team members and contribute to the general maintenance and repairs of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s many complex systems, in concert with established organizational mission, values, and standards. Systems include indoor facilities, public restrooms, playgrounds, water features, pedestrian bridges, outdoor lighting, HVAC and irrigation systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Work indoors and outdoors year-round and adapt to varying environmental conditions.
- Perform general and detailed maintenance tasks, including facility inspections, work order completion, and assisting with special projects and events.
- Ensure all park equipment and facilities are maintained in safe, operational condition for visitors.
- Complete and document daily work orders efficiently and accurately.
- Support ongoing operations and preventative maintenance of all systems and assets within Brooklyn Bridge Park.
- Participate in seasonal maintenance activities such as snow removal and water system start-up/winterization.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain proper inventory of maintenance supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Provide emergency response for park-wide systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and irrigation components.
- Coordinate with outside contractors to perform specialized tasks, adjustments, and repairs.
- Deliver positive customer service by assisting park visitors and providing accurate park information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Nights and weekends are not required except during extreme weather events or emergencies.
- Hardworking, self-motivated, and dedicated to the details.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance, technical operations, and preventative maintenance.
- General knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and general maintenance.
- Ability to efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of repair projects.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Strong communication and basic computer/smartphone skills.
- Comfortable working independently or with a team, and can balance multiple projects and tasks.
- Being a team player and having the ability to be flexible when necessary, including with schedule shifts.
