This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Risk Strategist - Screening (Financial Crimes) in United States.

This is a high-impact risk leadership role at the center of global financial crime prevention within a fast-scaling financial infrastructure environment. You will define and evolve the global strategy for sanctions, PEP, and negative news screening programs, ensuring robust controls across multiple jurisdictions. The role blends deep regulatory expertise with data-driven decision-making, requiring close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, and Legal teams. You will help shape how financial crime risk is embedded directly into product and infrastructure design at scale. This position also plays a key role in advancing AI-enabled and automated screening systems to improve detection effectiveness and operational efficiency. It is ideal for a strategic, technically minded risk professional who thrives in complex, global, and fast-moving environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead global sanctions, AML screening, PEP, and negative news screening strategy, defining standards and control frameworks aligned with major regulatory regimes (OFAC, EU, UN, OFSI, and others).
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance financial crime screening controls, improving detection coverage, accuracy, and system performance across evolving products and threats.
  • Embed screening and financial crime risk requirements into product, engineering, and infrastructure roadmaps to ensure compliance is built into system design from the outset.
  • Drive development and optimization of screening infrastructure and tooling, ensuring strong observability through KPIs, KRIs, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Identify gaps in existing controls and lead end-to-end improvements, proactively anticipating regulatory changes and emerging financial crime risks.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to integrate risk strategy into business and product decisions.
  • Champion the use of AI, automation, and advanced analytics to modernize screening processes and enhance risk detection capabilities.
  • Engage with regulators, auditors, and external partners to represent screening strategy and ensure alignment with industry expectations.
  • Contribute to model governance practices, including documentation, monitoring, validation, and performance oversight of screening systems.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in financial services, fintech, or payments, including at least 5 years in risk, compliance, or related financial crime roles.
  • Strong expertise in global sanctions frameworks including OFAC, EU sanctions, UN Security Council, OFSI, and other international regimes.
  • Deep understanding of AML screening programs, including PEP screening and negative news screening in complex, multi-jurisdiction environments.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and scaling financial crime controls and compliance frameworks in global organizations.
  • Familiarity with model governance principles, including model validation, documentation, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, scalable control systems and operational processes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders to embed risk requirements into products and systems.
  • Technology-forward mindset with experience using AI tools, automation, or advanced analytics in risk or compliance contexts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive insights from complex data sets.
  • SQL proficiency and experience independently analyzing data is a strong plus.
  • Experience with crypto or digital asset risk environments is considered an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, or CFCS are a plus.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation aligned with senior-level financial crime risk expertise.
  • Equity participation opportunities as part of a long-term incentive structure.
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Remote-friendly work environment with global collaboration opportunities.
  • Strong focus on professional development, certifications, and continuous learning.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge financial infrastructure and AI-driven risk systems.
  • Opportunity to shape global financial crime strategy at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Inclusive, mission-driven culture focused on innovation and economic access.
