This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a payroll professional with deep expertise in U.S. multi-state payroll operations and compliance. In this role, you will oversee end-to-end payroll processing across complex tax jurisdictions while leading and mentoring a dedicated payroll team in a fully remote environment. You will act as the strategic bridge between operational execution and organizational growth, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability across payroll systems and processes. The position combines hands-on technical ownership with people leadership, process optimization, and executive-level reporting responsibilities. - Lead and manage the complete payroll lifecycle across 15+ U.S. states, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll team members while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll systems, including ADP Workforce Now and related integrations, ensuring system optimization and data integrity.
- Oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, including SUTA, FUTA, FICA, garnishments, W-2/W-3 processing, and tax reconciliations.
- Handle escalated payroll issues, tax notices, and audit requests while ensuring strong internal controls and compliance practices.
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance scalability, efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
- Deliver payroll analytics, audit support, and strategic reporting to senior leadership, including workforce trends and benefits-related reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, finance, and operations teams to support organizational growth and operational excellence.
- Extensive experience managing U.S. multi-state payroll operations, with strong expertise in payroll tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven leadership experience managing payroll teams in remote or distributed work environments.
- Advanced proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Kronos/UKG, and advanced Excel functions including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CPP certification is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, audits, garnishments, year-end processing, and tax reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex payroll and tax matters to U.S.-based stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a process improvement mindset.
- Ability to work night shift hours aligned with U.S. Eastern/Central time zones in a fully remote setting.
- Fully remote work environment based in the Philippines.
- Competitive monthly compensation ranging from $85,000 to $110,000 PHP, based on experience.
