Location: 321 E111th Street New York, NY 10029
Salary Range: $30.00 per hour
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary
The Food Program Assistant is responsible for ensuring that BCNY Food Service Department meets its goal of providing nutritious, quality meals for children and other members of the BCNY community. The Food Program Assistant must be able effectively lead department when Food Program Coordinator is absent.
Responsibilities
• Assist the Food Program Coordinator in setting up for meal service.
• Assist in the opening and closure of the food program.
• Assist in cooking the food at the correct temperature for meal service.
• Set up the dining room tables and chairs by 15 minutes prior to service.
• Ensure proper, consistent, and effective meal distribution and clean up procedures
• Follow safety guidelines in the kitchen and dining area at all times.
• Cleaning, disinfecting and putting away all tables and chairs at the conclusion of meal service
• Maintain compliance with all food handling procedures, including those of the
• Department of Health as well as those of BCNY.
• Communicating with Food Program Coordinator on what foods needs to get discarded.
• Clean refrigerators, warmers, ovens and kitchen after meal service.
• Properly store and date all food products in their designated areas.
• Adhere to departmental dress code.
• Remove all garbage from dining room.
• Mop and Sweep the dining room.
• In addition to the above, the Food Program Assistant will perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein as assigned by Food Program Coordinator.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. 3-5 years of work experience, preferably with youth and/or in food service capacity. Must be 17 years of age or older and also have prior experience working with children. Food Handlers Certificate strongly preferred. DOH and DOE fingerprinted desirable. First Aid and CPR Certification desirable.
