Brian Cox Mechanical, Inc. (BCM), an industry leading HVAC contractor headquartered in Poway California, has an opening for a Commercial and Industrial Lead Service Technician to lead by example in the field and support the success of our service operations.

Position Summary

The Lead Service Technician serves as a technical leader and mentor for the service team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of HVAC and mechanical services. This role combines advanced technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including supporting technician development, coordinating daily field operations, and fostering exceptional customer relationships. The Lead Service Technician works closely with service management, dispatch, and field personnel to ensure projects and service calls are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead, mentor, and support Service Technicians by providing technical guidance, field training, and oversight to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to company standards.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new technicians to support workforce development and operations growth
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by conducting regular safety meetings, field audits, vehicle inspections, and ensuring compliance with all company standards including OSHA, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serves as the primary technical resources for technicians, assisting with troubleshooting complex HVAC, mechanical, and controls related issues.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily service activities to ensure work is completed timely, efficiently, and safely.
  • Partner with Service Management, Dispatch, and Customer Service teams to schedule, assign, and monitor service work and customer commitments.
  • Manage after hours service calls, and on-call status for emergency services.
  • Respond to preventative maintenance, repair, and emergency service requests as needed, including after-hours calls and technical escalations.
  • Monitor work quality and customer satisfaction, proactively addressing concerns and minimizing callbacks, rework, and warranty-related issues.
  • Support employee development through ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and participation in performance evaluations alongside Service Management.
  • Identify training needs for technicians and recommend technical, safety, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure technicians maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, inspection reports, and customer communication records.
  • Evaluate tools, vehicles, and equipment needs; recommend acquisitions and improvements to enhance productivity and service quality.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials to ensure proper maintenance, organization, and operational readiness.

Frequently stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach while performing services, maintenance, and repair work.

Heavy Lifting: Frequently lift and carry, push, and pull equipment, materials, and tools, weighing up to 50–75 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated surfaces, and access rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawls spaces, and confined areas.

Frequently use hands and fingers to operate tools, controls, testing devices, and computer equipment.

Regularly operate a company vehicle and safely drive to and from customer locations, including extended periods of sitting while traveling between job sites.

Ability to work safely in varied weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and high humidity.

May be exposed to mechanical equipment, moving machinery, electrical systems, refrigerants, chemicals, dust, fumes, and noise levels requiring the use of personal protective equipment.

Must maintain the physical stamina and mobility necessary to perform job duties safely and effectively throughout the workday.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Valid driver's license and clean record
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle and travel to customer locations
  • 5+ Years of field experience
  • Able to work 9/80 schedule, and on call after hours
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills
