Currently, we are seeking full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our R & D team at Garaventa Lift at Surrey, BC.
This is 100% an on-site position.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance of current products along with designing, testing, and optimizing Mechanical designs for Wheelchair Stair lifts/ elevator products, ensuring compliance with industry codes and customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Requirements
- Design and develop mechanical designs for elevator and accessibility products
- Collaborate with product management, manufacturing, purchasing and technical support teams to support mechanical systems
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure designs meet CSA, ASME, and other applicable standards
- Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
- Prepare documentation for manufacturing, installation, and service teams
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and product lifecycle management
Mindset, Skills & Education
- Energetic, eager, tenacious.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Min of 2 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in elevator or industrial automation sectors
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar design tools
- Strong understanding of safety codes and standards (CSA B44, ASME A17.1)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Works well as part of a collaborative team
- Eligibility for P.Eng. designation in British Columbia is an asset
