Description:
As a Bakery Team Member at Pullman Market, you contribute to the smooth and efficient flow of our bakery operations. You assist in preparing high-quality baked goods and pastas, ensuring every product meets our standards for quality and consistency. In addition to production support, you engage with guests, guiding them through our offerings and helping them make informed selections.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and production of a variety of dough-based products, including yeast and sourdough breads, laminated pastries, pastas, pizza dough, flour tortillas, crackers, cookies, etc.
- Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, using commercial spiral and planetary mixers.
- Manage dough fermentation using both commercial yeast and sourdough cultures.
- Divide, shape and proof doughs in accordance with the fermentation schedule.
- Utilize commercial steam-injected deck ovens and rotating rack ovens to bake products.
- Properly cool and package bakery items for sale at the market. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management regarding ordering needs.
- Follow recipes accurately to ensure the consistent quality of all bakery products.
- Interact with market guests to educate them on our product selection, slice and bag and tag selected products and provide a great customer experience.
- Maintain a retail bakery area by rotating stock with fresh products, while keeping a clean and organized appearance.
Personal Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently produce high-quality food products.
- Able to work in a timely manner in accordance to mixing and fermentation schedules.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients, understanding recipes and fermentation schedules.
- Willingness to undergo training and follow company policies and procedures.
- Ability to work on your feet for 8-10 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high production team environment.
- Have a valid Texas Food Handler Certification.
Working Conditions:
- A typical work week for this position is 32-40 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
- Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
