Description:

The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor position provides person centered, strength-based services to individuals with substance use disorders. This position ensures educational support, pre-vocational support and vocational rehabilitation counseling services are provided. These services may be provided in the Farnham clinics or in the community. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor will provide comprehensive vocational programming that will result in the participants’ connection to an educational training program or gainful employment. This position will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide services to participants in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct comprehensive educational and vocational assessments

· Provide Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling Services.

· Assures the provision of consistent, non-judgmental, consumer-centered services that are strength-based and develop assets.

· Conduct needs assessments, based on employment goal to identify education/training requirements, personal strengths and necessary support services.

· Provide linkages to participants to education related community resources including support for learning.

· Teach participants core competencies such as work compliance, task completion, and problem solving.

· Develop Vocational and educational treatment plan and document goal achievement in case record.

· Assist participants in overcoming obstacles to employment, assist in obtaining paperwork necessary for employment applications.

· Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of all contacts, and collects statistical data.

· Utilize an Electronic Medical Record to document all services provided.

· Participate in Supervision Sessions.

· Attend training, staff meetings, conferences and seminars, as scheduled

· Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and needs of individuals served.

· Must have the ability to work well with others, be a positive role model and a good representative of the Agency.

· Must be able to work independently as well as an intricate member of a team

· Must maintain a high degree of professionalism, good judgment in accordance with Canon Code of Conduct

· Adheres to all applicable local, state, federal and agency regulations, policies and procedures

· Implement outreach strategies to include targeted engagement through partner networks, recovery centers, community events, local educational institutions, as well as informational sessions and workshops to raise awareness of vocational services.

· All job responsibilities with be in alignment with value- based health/payment. It is the responsibility of this position to know and understand the specific implications of VBH/VBP on day-to-day duties on the job.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Disability Services, Social Services Counseling as defined by OASAS.

· Three years experience supporting individuals in pursuing educational and employment goals.

· Two years’ experience working in a SUD OASAS funded program.

· Preferred qualifications: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, OR

· Access-VR Certified Counselor, CASAC, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, or other master’s degree in a related field with vocational rehabilitation and SUD experience.

Special Requirements:

· Driver’s License and reliable insured vehicle

· Travel is required to other office locations and community-based settings, including participant home and work locations.
