Job Description (Duties)

Work assignments may take place at various industrial sites across Alberta. Transportation or LOA (Living Out Allowance) may be provided depending on project requirements.

Ironworkers at AG&P Canada will:

Read blueprints and specifications to lay out workUnload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as neededErect and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment and riggingSignal crane operator to position steel units according to blueprintsAlign and weld or bolt steel units in placeErect structural and architectural precast concrete componentsAssemble and erect prefabricated metal structuresPosition and secure steel bars or metal mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete structuresInstall ornamental and other structural metalwork Examine structures and equipment for deterioration, defects or non-compliance with specificationsMay dismantle structures and equipmentQualifications

Completion of apprenticeship program or trade certification (Red Seal preferred)Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an industrial settingValid Journeyperson or Apprenticeship certificate Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
