Pest Control Technician Role and Responsibilities

  • Expertly perform pest control in residential and commercial settings.
  • Navigate confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics to ensure comprehensive service.
  • Perform exclusion work to seal entry points and prevent pest access.
  • Use carpentry and handyman skills to install pest barriers, repair structural vulnerabilities, and support long-term pest prevention.
  • Maintain and operate service vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain required certifications and licenses.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with clients.

Key Skills for Pest Control Technician

Required Skills

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to safely navigate crawlspaces, attics, and ladders up to 40 feet
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for maintaining and operating service vehicles and equipment (sprayers, backpack misters, etc.)
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in varying weather conditions, and perform hands-on service tasks
    Strong attention to safety protocols and compliance standards

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with pest control methods (rodents, termites, wildlife, mosquitoes, etc.)
  • Carpentry, handyman, or exclusion work (installing barriers, sealing entry points, structural repair)
  • Knowledge of pest management equipment (B&G sprayers, Actisol machines, Stihl backpack misters, power sprayers)
  • Prior experience in a field service, construction, landscaping, or facilities maintenance role
  • Pest control licensing or certifications (or willingness to obtain during training)
