About This Position

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department and patient transfer settings. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility with a minimum of supervision. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Knowledge & Experience
      • Skills-
        • Demonstrates ability to complete applicable competencies
        • Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately
        • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various health care personnel, law enforcement, fire personnel and bystanders
        • Must possess and maintain a valid Operator’s License from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles with a clean driving record
        • The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check to be eligible for the position.
        • The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.
      • Knowledge-
        • Basic Emergency Medical Technician curriculum and contents
      • Education-
        • High school diploma or equivalent
        • Must have successfully completed an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program
        • Must hold certification from the Indiana State Emergency Medical Services Commission as an Emergency Medical Technician
        • Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support course
        • EMT Must obtain EVOC training successfully to assist with transport of the patient.
        • Must complete "For Hire" to assist in covering shuttle within first 6months of employment.
      • Experience-
        • A minimum of 1 year of previous Emergency Medical Services experience preferred

    • Authority and Accountability
      • Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters
      • Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, healthcare personnel, physicians, patients, volunteers, visitors and outside agency personnel
      • Must be able to work with and communicate with different types of people

    • Aptitudes
      • Must be able to prioritize, utilize critical thinking, and adjust to change
      • Must be able to reason and use logical problem-solving skills
      • Performs duties that require some latitude for independent judgment and initiative in handling situations out of the ordinary
