The Opportunity

Lesley University always welcomes applications for adjunct faculty to teach upcoming classes for our areas in Counseling & Psychology at the graduate level. Subject areas in this department include courses on Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Holistic Studies, Research Methods, School Counseling, School Adjustment Counseling, and Trauma Studies. Classes in this department are primarily taught in-person during the week or as a weekend intensive program.

Since adjunct faculty positions are ongoing, evergreen positions, your materials will remain on file and will be reviewed on an as-needed basis throughout the upcoming semesters. By submitting your application, you will be put into consideration for current and future adjunct positions within the Counseling & Psychology subject area. We hire adjunct faculty on a regular cadence to support our Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. The specific course hired for is subject to change depending on semester, course catalog, and department needs.

About Mental Health & Wellbeing

Our programs in Mental Health & Well-Being start with undergraduate degrees in Psychology+, our unique multidisciplinary psychology program that includes specializations and dual degrees, ranging from Holistic Psychology to Expressive Therapies. Our Master’s degrees in Counseling & Psychology include specializations in School and Community, Holistic Studies, and Trauma Studies as well as Expressive Therapies where Lesley is one of the few universities offering all five specializations: Art, Dance, Drama, Music, and Expressive Arts.

In our PhD program(s), students work closely with their faculty advisor to choose their dissertation topic, after engaging in rigorous coursework, as part of a cohort of passionate, creative scholars. Our programs also include both undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work, and a unique master’s in Mindfulness Studies, where students are at the forefront of bringing this discipline into many professional and personal pursuits.

Qualities & Capabilities

Required:

  • Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related field

  • License in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or relevant field

  • DESE license is required to teach school-based courses

  • A commitment to integrating social justice practices into the curriculum

Preferred:

  • Terminal degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field

  • Demonstrated successful experience teaching in the particular discipline at the graduate level

  • Prior clinical work experience
