Electro-Mechanical Rotational Program Manager - Contingent Position
*Contingent position based on an awarded contract expected ASAP
Sierra Peaks is hiring an Electro-Mechanical Rotational Program Manager to work within the LANL site, guiding, managing and protecting the Albuquerque, NM EMA team dedicated to the LANL contract.
The individual will be responsible for managing a government contract and being liaison for four (4) rotational Sierra Peaks employees working on site at LANL.
This person will live in ABQ, but will transfer to the LANL site four days per week for the duration of the contract.
Meaning: the Rotational Program Manager will lead a four person SPC EMA (Electro-Mechanical Assembly) team in the LANL site who, on a rotational basis, will be transferred from their work in Albuquerque into the LANL site every week, four days per week for the duration of the contract.
The Rotational Program Manager will work at the direction of Management in ABQ in order to effectively lead the team when they are within the LANL site.
The position requires exceptional management and leadership capabilities as well as: soldering, crimping and component wiring per wiring diagrams, reading schematics, and the ability to take verbal instruction from onsite LANL professionals.
Tools knowledge must include screwdrivers, hex heads and sockets.
Inventory management includes kitting checks, part availability and identification & installation.
The right candidate will be an exceptional leader of people, verbally strong and knowledgeable in mechanical and electro assembly, cable manufacturing and box builds; they will take responsibility for Quality Control and troubleshooting and will learn the requirements of the SPC Quality Management System.
Management Responsibilities:
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be drug-free
- Must be able to drive a 10 passenger van to and from LANL twice weekly
- Manage program to ensure goals are met
- Manage customer needs and expectations
- Serve as the main contact and support for the LANL staff
- Serve as the liaison to Sierra Peaks employees working at LANL
- Keep in touch with SPC Management on contract status and budget
- Travel to LANL weekly
- Shepherd potential employees through the LANL badging and onboarding process
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities
- Collaborate with SPC management and colleagues to advocate and bolster company culture for SPC
- Other duties as assigned
On-site Job Responsibilities:
- Cable assembly
- Mechanical assembly of platforms, frames, custom enclosures. Slight part modification/fabrication as needed
- Support the efforts of the engineering development team within LANL
- Execute electrical testing per customer requirements
- Manage the preparation of the final product for shipment
- Part inspection with basic tools
- Adherence to ISO 9001:2015
- Other duties as assigned
Required:
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening test
- Ability to work independently as well as manage a team in a complex environment
- Ability to read and work from wiring instructions, diagrams and schematics
- Ability to read and work from assembly instructions and assembly drawings
- Possess a high aptitude for attention to detail and receptive to learning procedural work
- Familiar with standard fasteners, such as a variety of screws, bolts, pins, nuts and washers
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience working in management and 3+ years of hands-on experience as an assembly tech in an electronic or related manufacturing environment (Electro-Mechanical Assembly)
- 5+ years’ experience managing, planning, directing, cost management, and scheduling timely and successful completion of tasks
- Experience with government contracts
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferable, not required
- Business Development experience is a plus
- Proficient soldering skills
- An understanding of ISO Quality systems
- Experience with electrical testing
- Technical certifications and/or AS in Electronics
- IPC-A-610, IPC-WHMA-A-620, and/or J-STD-001 certifications
- Documentation, organization, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
