The Technology Consultant will support healthcare organizations in modernizing their data exchange capabilities by designing, implementing, and optimizing interoperability solutions. The role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, client collaboration, and the ability to translate complex healthcare requirements into scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to gather business and technical requirements related to healthcare interoperability initiatives.
- Design, develop, and implement HL7 FHIR-based integration solutions between healthcare applications, enterprise platforms, and external systems.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs while supporting secure healthcare data exchange through modern integration approaches.
- Configure and manage FHIR resources including Patient, Practitioner, Encounter, Observation, Medication, Allergy Intolerance, Condition, Procedure, and Care Plan.
- Develop data mappings between legacy healthcare systems and FHIR-based models, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Create and validate JSON and XML payloads used for healthcare messaging and integrations.
- Support interoperability projects involving EHRs, EMRs, health information exchanges, payer systems, and healthcare technology platforms.
- Troubleshoot API integrations, data quality issues, and technical interoperability challenges.
- Participate in solution architecture, technical reviews, testing, deployment activities, and production support.
- Create technical documentation, integration specifications, and implementation guidance.
- Provide recommendations on healthcare interoperability best practices, security, scalability, and standards adoption.
- Collaborate with cross-functional consulting teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
The ideal candidate brings experience in healthcare technology consulting, interoperability standards, and integration development. Strong analytical abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and technical teams are essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience implementing healthcare integration solutions using HL7 FHIR standards.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, web services, JSON, and XML data formats.
- Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts, standards, and data exchange workflows.
- Experience integrating clinical or healthcare information systems.
- Knowledge of API authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0 and SMART on FHIR is preferred.
- Familiarity with HL7 Version 2.x or CDA standards is a plus.
- Experience integrating with EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, MEDITECH, Allscripts, or similar systems is preferred.
- Experience with healthcare integration engines such as Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect), Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, or comparable middleware solutions is beneficial.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead discussions and client interactions.
- Experience working in Agile software delivery environments is a plus.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
