Job Description
Are you passionate about making a real difference and helping others achieve independence? As a Job Coach, you will play a critical role in helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain, maintain, and succeed in meaningful employment.
This is a highly personalized, hands-on role requiring a balance of mentorship, advocacy, and practical skill-building. You will work directly with individuals at their job sites—either at community businesses where we hold group employment contracts or where participants are hired directly—ensuring they have the tools, confidence, and workplace support to thrive.
Key ResponsibilitiesIndividualized Assessment & Skill Building
- Evaluate & Plan: Assess individuals’ unique skills, strengths, interests, and limitations to build tailored employment paths and implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Pre-Employment Preparation: Teach critical soft and technical skills, including resume building, interview etiquette, and workplace behavior. Conduct mock interviews and assist with applications.
- Hands-On Support: Work side-by-side with clients at their job sites. Break down complex tasks into manageable steps, guide social interactions, and teach job-specific duties.
- Advocacy & Liaison: Act as a bridge between the employee, the employer, and support teams. Educate employers on ADA accommodations and foster inclusive work environments.
- Daily Living & Autonomy: Assist with daily life skills related to employment, such as budgeting, self-care/hygiene, food prep, socialization, and safely transporting individuals to work or appointments.
Program Site Operations & Team Collaboration
- Site Management: Share in daily site operations as designated by the Employment Manager, including providing direct care coverage across scheduled shifts (including awake overnight shifts when required).
- Documentation: Maintain precise records, collect data to track ISP progress, and ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards and human rights protections.
- Team Participation: Actively participate in staff meetings, peer evaluations, professional development programs, and regular supervision.
- A Passion for Empowerment: A strong interest in working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (prior experience or related education is highly preferred).
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build respectful, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with the individuals we serve.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; proficiency in reading, writing, and transcribing English.
- Core Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency for documentation and data collection.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift and assist individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
- Credentials & Travel:
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel to various local work sites.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (Required at hire for DDS sites, or must be obtained within 30 days of hire for non-DDS sites).
