Job Description

Job Title: Food Service Worker – Fry Cook / Prep Cook (Back of House)

Location: Private High School – Scranton, PA

Schedule: Part-Time | Monday–Friday | Daylight Hours | No Nights or Weekends

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Food Service Worker (Back of House) to join our team at a private high school in Scranton, PA. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in preparing quality food while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the fry station during high-volume meal service.
  • Assist with daily food preparation and kitchen production.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working a fry station in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Previous prep cook or commercial kitchen experience required.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently during busy meal periods.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background clearances.

Depending on the location, here are examples of the types of Foodservice Worker positions available:

Culinary Team Members: Our Team Members start their Culinary Career learning the front and back of the Dining Services Industry. In a hospitality driven, multi dining outlet setting, you will perform duties to include plating, set up and tear down of café, restaurant, retail areas, or assist in kitchen to include prep, dish room, dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Must bring a strong work ethic, a SMILE and enjoy working in a TEAM environment


Line and Prep Cooks: Prepare and present DELICIOUS meals and IMPRESSIVE presentations following our Executive Chef Menus. Ability to inventory and portion ingredients. Additionally, assist in kitchen to include prep, dish room, dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Experience as a cook or culinary schooling would be ideal but we willing to train the right person with a passion for food.


Dietary Aids (Patient Food Service): Our Team of Dietary Aids ensure our patients and residents receive AMAZING in-room meals with unexpected service and smiles! Under the guidance of our Clinical Dietitian staff, our Dietary Aids ensure compliance with patient dietary instructions. Our servers assist with meal selection, tray set up, delivery and removal of food trays with strong focus on HOSPITALITY and demonstrating compassion and amazing service to our guest Patients and Residents.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience desired but OPEN to train candidates with a passion for food and understands the basics
  • Ability to apply elementary mathematical statistics that would apply to inventory and portioning
  • Be willing to roll up sleeves and contribute where needed
