This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Engineer, Midi Audio based in India.
This role sits at the core of advanced digital audio engineering, focusing on building and optimizing large-scale audio platforms and media delivery ecosystems. You will work on end-to-end audio workflows including encoding, streaming, processing, and distribution across web, mobile, and OTT environments. The position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable audio experiences for global users. You will contribute to the design of modern media infrastructure supporting podcasting, internet radio, and digital broadcasting use cases. The environment is highly collaborative, working across engineering, product, and content teams. You will also help define standards for audio quality, automation, and platform performance. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with strong impact on next-generation audio systems.
Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable digital audio platforms, ensuring high-quality audio delivery across multiple channels and devices.
- Build and manage audio processing pipelines including encoding, streaming, transcoding, and distribution workflows.
- Oversee audio content lifecycle management including ingestion, metadata handling, storage, publishing, and archiving.
- Develop automation solutions to streamline media operations and improve efficiency across audio workflows.
- Troubleshoot streaming issues, audio quality degradation, platform performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
- Integrate audio systems with third-party APIs, content management systems, and external media services.
- Monitor platform health, analytics, and performance metrics to ensure optimal user experience.
- Define and enforce standards for audio quality, scalability, security, compliance, and content rights management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and content stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within audio engineering initiatives.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive continuous improvement across delivery processes.
Strong experience in digital audio engineering with deep expertise in audio processing, streaming technologies, and media infrastructure.
- 5.5+ years of overall experience in software or media engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of audio codecs, compression standards, streaming protocols, and delivery mechanisms.
- Experience with audio content management systems and large-scale digital media workflows.
- Proficiency in managing audio platforms including editing, mixing, mastering, and broadcast technologies.
- Experience working with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and metadata-driven content libraries.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based media platforms and content delivery networks.
- Experience with automation, workflow optimization, and system integration using APIs.
- Familiarity with podcasting, OTT audio platforms, internet radio, and streaming ecosystems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills for production environments.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related technical field.
