High Net Worth Senior Tax Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a High Net Worth Senior Tax Manager based in the United States.

This senior-level tax leadership role focuses on advising high net worth individuals, families, trusts, and closely held businesses on complex tax planning and compliance matters. The position plays a key role in managing sophisticated engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring both technical accuracy and exceptional client service. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients navigating evolving federal, state, and local tax regulations, while also contributing to long-term wealth planning strategies. In this role, you will lead engagement teams, review complex returns, and ensure high-quality execution across multiple concurrent projects. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly client-facing, with strong emphasis on technical excellence, relationship-building, and leadership within the tax practice. Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage complex tax engagements for high net worth individuals, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses, from planning through execution and delivery.
  • Review and oversee the preparation of intricate tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Advise clients on sophisticated tax planning strategies, including estate, gift, trust, investment, and business structuring considerations.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor and delivering high-quality, responsive service.
  • Lead client meetings and presentations, clearly communicating technical tax concepts and strategic recommendations.
  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and team performance while ensuring profitability and efficient delivery.
  • Review and mentor junior staff, providing feedback, technical guidance, and supporting their professional development.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of progressive public accounting experience focused on high net worth tax compliance, planning, and consulting.
  • Active CPA license and strong academic background in Accounting or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in estate, gift, and trust taxation, including strong knowledge of grantor trust rules (IRC Sections 671–679).
  • Strong technical understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and their application to complex client situations.
  • Proven experience managing multiple high-value engagements simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising, training, and reviewing the work of staff and senior associates.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to simplify complex tax concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with tax software (such as CCH Axcess) and strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
