Full-Time Lead Handyman / Home Service Technician – Austin, TX
TruBlue Westlake is launching in Austin, and we're hiring our first Lead Handyman — a foundational hire who will work side-by-side with the franchise owner to build a growing home services business from the ground up.
This is a role for a skilled craftsman who takes pride in doing things right the first time, communicates naturally with customers, leads by example, and is ready to grow alongside a brand-new business.About TruBlueTruBlue Home Service Ally is a national franchise with over 120 locations, providing trusted handyman repairs, home maintenance, and senior-safety modifications. Our purpose is helping seniors age in place and giving busy families peace of mind. TruBlue Westlake serves Westlake, Rollingwood, West Lake Hills, Tarrytown, and central Austin.What You'll Do
  • Perform high-quality home repair projects as the most experienced craftsman on every job
  • Represent TruBlue in customers' homes — clear communication, respectful conduct, clean work
  • Provide on-site estimates for additional work when appropriate
  • Support day-to-day operations: scheduling input, materials, quality control
  • Document work with photos and complete job paperwork
  • As the team grows, lead and mentor new Tru-Pro® technicians
  • Uphold TruBlue's high standard of professionalism and customer care
Common Projects Include
  • Bathroom and kitchen upgrades
  • Drywall repair and finishing
  • Flooring installation and repair
  • General carpentry — trim, molding, built-ins
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • Basic plumbing and electrical work
  • Tile installation and repair
  • Door and window repair
  • Deck, fence, and gate repair
  • Senior safety upgrades — grab bars, ramps, accessible fixtures
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and work at heights
  • Work in attics and crawl spaces
  • Kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods
  • Drive to multiple job sites daily
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of hands-on residential home repair or remodeling experience
  • Broad multi-trade skill set with strong carpentry foundation
  • Strong customer communication and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring other technicians is preferred
  • Comfortable using a smartphone for photos and scheduling apps
  • Valid Texas driver's license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and full toolset
  • Fluent in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing to complete background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen
