Equipment Operator
Advance, NC
Hourly / Full-Time
About the RoleThe Equipment Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our Advance, NC facility. This position is primarily responsible for operating an articulating haul truck to transport various feedstocks across the site while supporting daily production operations.
In addition to haul truck operation, the Equipment Operator will assist with operating other heavy equipment as needed, including bulldozers, rubber tire loaders, skid steers, tractors, and forklifts. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and committed to performing routine equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and operational checks to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
This position directly supports our commitment to environmental compliance, operational excellence, and workplace safety.
Schedule- First Shift
- Typical operating hours are Monday through Friday.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
- Primarily operate an articulating haul truck to transport various feedstocks throughout the Advance, NC facility.
- Operate additional heavy equipment as needed, including:
- Bulldozers
- Rubber tire loaders
- Skid steers
- Tractors
- Forklifts
- Safely move materials while maintaining production efficiency and site cleanliness.
- Perform pre-trip inspections before each shift and shutdown inspections at the end of each shift on all assigned equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and report equipment malfunctions or repair needs promptly.
- Follow the Terragator preventative maintenance schedule, including routine greasing and servicing.
- Ensure safe equipment operation at all times.
- Operate applicator equipment by injecting approved materials on permitted fields while maintaining environmental compliance.
- Identify and flag buffer zones before land application.
- Collect soil samples and ensure soil analysis is completed before beginning work on new fields.
- Record every load applied in field logs and maintain accurate application records.
- Utilize best management practices to ensure proper application while respecting landowner property.
- Monitor land usage throughout application activities.
- Monitor frac tank levels and report status daily to management.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including:
- Field Logs
- Equipment inspection reports
- Gator DVIRs
- Environmental Logs
- Other required operational paperwork
- Review all paperwork before submission to ensure it is complete, accurate, signed, dated, and corrected when necessary.
- Report spills, equipment failures, or environmental concerns immediately.
- Notify the Area Manager of all equipment issues requiring maintenance or repair.
- Follow all company safety policies and environmental regulations.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Ensure environmental compliance during all land application activities.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and accurately complete Gator DVIR reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Immediately report spills, unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment failures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain required equipment operation certifications.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in construction, agriculture, industrial, landfill, compost, or similar environments.
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Heavy equipment operator certification from an accredited program.
- Experience operating articulating haul trucks.
- Experience operating bulldozers, rubber tire loaders, skid steers, tractors, or forklifts.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and daily equipment inspections.
- Experience performing pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and land application practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify equipment issues before they become major repairs.
This position is based at our Advance, NC facility and involves operating heavy equipment in an outdoor industrial environment. Employees will work around heavy machinery, changing weather conditions, dust, mud, and varying terrain. The work is physically demanding and requires climbing into equipment, prolonged sitting, walking on uneven surfaces, lifting, and working safely around moving equipment.
