Job Description
OCL GROUP
OCL Industrial Services Ltd.
About The Role
OCL Industrial Services is looking for skilled Carpenters to join our precision field crews on industrial installation, overhaul, maintenance, and turnaround projects.
You will perform precise carpentry work with a strong focus on site-specific formwork for foundations and equipment baseplates. Your role involves the expert mixing, forming, and placing of epoxy grout, ensuring all work meets tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
We are hiring for both full-time permanent positions and project / T&M assignments — please tell us which you are interested in.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform epoxy grouting of equipment baseplates and foundations — surface preparation, constructing complex formwork, mixing to correct ratios, placing grout, and achieving precise finishes.
- Construct and install site-specific formwork for foundations, bases, and structural supports, ensuring accuracy to blueprints and tight tolerances.
- Complete grout documentation accurately — tracking batch/lot numbers, ambient temperatures, volumes, and pouring logs for the QC turnover package.
- Set and level forms and embeds for rotating and fixed equipment installations, ensuring alignment with structural requirements.
- Assist with rigging, material handling, and site-prep tasks safely and according to the project plan.
- Utilize precision measurement tools — levels, lasers, squares, and measuring tapes to ensure formwork integrity and grout placement accuracy.
- Participate in JSAs / FLHAs, toolbox talks, and all OCL and site HSE requirements, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Report daily time and material information (LEM inputs) and quality records to your supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Required — Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent; proven experience in industrial settings.
Required — Hands-on epoxy grout experience: surface preparation, construction of complex formwork, mixing to correct ratios, placement, and detailed QC documentation.
Required — Proficient in industrial system formwork (e.g., Doka, Peri) and site-specific formwork for foundations and equipment baseplates.
Required — Competent in rigging, material handling, and the safe use of precision measuring tools (levels, lasers, squares).
Required — Current safety certifications (Confined Space, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, AWP, and GD2) and ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
Asset — Previous experience in concrete placement and finishing.
Asset — Experience in turnaround/shutdown, oil & gas, or heavy industrial/mining environments; able to read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints.
What We Offer
▪ Competitive wages, LOA / subsistence and travel for site work, and premiums for turnaround / shutdown rotations.
▪ Steady work across a strong project pipeline with a safety-first, quality-focused team.
▪ The choice of full-time permanent employment or project / T&M engagements.
