Education Level: 2nd – 4th year Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented engineering co-op student to support our manufacturing and product development teams. This role sits at the intersection of engineering design and production, with a strong focus on change control, product quality, and documentation accuracy.
You’ll work closely with engineers, production staff, and supply chain to ensure that products are built correctly, changes are implemented smoothly, and quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
1) Change Management & Documentation Control
• Support engineering change processes (ECOs / ECNs)
• Prepare and file change order documentation
• Communicate Bill of Materials (BOM) updates to manufacturing and supply chain teams
• Help assess and document the impact of design changes (cost, inventory, production risk)
• Assist in defining and tracking use-up strategies for obsolete or revised components
• Ensure documentation is accurate, traceable, and up to date
2) Incoming Inspection & Quality Support
• Inspect incoming components for defects, conformance, and workmanship
• Verify parts against engineering drawings and work instructions
• Document findings and generate inspection reports
• Communicate quality issues clearly to engineering and manufacturing teams
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions when required
3) First Article Builds & Production Readiness
• Assist with first article builds and early production runs
• Identify gaps or issues in drawings, BOMs, or work instructions
• Work with engineering to update and improve documentation packages
• Ensure manufacturing processes are clearly defined and repeatable
• Help drive continuous improvement in product readiness and build quality
Requirements:Experience & Skills
• Enrolled in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality concepts is an asset
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Microsoft Teams for communication and coordination
• Jira (or similar) for tracking changes, issues, and tasks
• Exposure to PLM / ERP systems is an asset
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
• Experience with CAD drawings or schematics
• Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, IPC, etc.)
• Previous co-op or hands-on technical experience
