Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing performance, capacity, productivity, material flow, and on-time delivery through the application of industrial engineering and continuous improvement principles. This position partners with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Program Management to analyze factory performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement sustainable solutions that support RIX’s operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize factory layouts, production cells, workstations, equipment placement, and production flow to improve throughput, space utilization, safety, and efficiency.
  • Analyze and improve material flow, work-in-process movement, point-of-use storage, replenishment methods, and material presentation to reduce handling, travel, and production delays.
  • Lead capacity planning, labor modeling, line balancing, and constraint analysis to support current and forecasted production requirements.
  • Conduct time studies and work measurement activities to establish and maintain labor standards and support the development of standard work.
  • Analyze work-in-process, queue times, production sequencing, manufacturing lead times, and other operational data to improve production flow and on-time delivery.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, 5S, waste reduction, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain key performance indicators related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate workstation design, operator movement, and ergonomics to improve employee safety, efficiency, and ease of work.
  • Provide capacity, labor, space, utilization, and operational analysis to support new product introduction, capital equipment purchases, automation, and facility planning.
  • Support production recovery and contingency planning through capacity, labor, constraint, and production-flow analysis.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for process improvements, capital investments, and operational changes.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Program Management to implement and sustain operational improvements.
  • Support compliance with AS9100, customer, regulatory, and internal quality-system requirements.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making across functions and facilities.
  • Lead with humility, integrity, and trust.
  • Build collaborative working relationships across departments and facilities.
  • Promote accountability, ownership, engagement, and continuous learning.
  • Use data and sound analysis to identify problems and recommend practical solutions.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 6 years of industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations, or continuous improvement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above.
  • Demonstrated experience with capacity planning, labor modeling, time studies, work measurement, labor standards, line balancing, production flow, and material flow.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing data and developing actionable recommendations to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems and production reporting or analytical tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and project leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional improvement initiatives from analysis through implementation and sustainment.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing cost concepts, including Cost of Goods and return on investment (ROI).
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize engineering software, including Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a changing manufacturing environment.
  • U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with 22 CFR § 120.15.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting new product introduction, facility planning, automation, or capital equipment projects.
  • Experience working within an AS9100-certified QMS.
  • Experience with manufacturing simulation, facility-layout, data-visualization, or advanced analytical software.

Physical Requirements

1. Must have the following physical abilities:

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.

$105,000 - $130,000
