This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) based in Canada.
This role is a key first point of contact for prospective customers, engaging with local government agencies across North America. You’ll combine inbound lead engagement with high-volume, multi-channel outbound prospecting to create qualified opportunities for the sales team. The position blends research, relationship building, consultative communication, and data-driven experimentation to improve outreach performance. You’ll use AI-powered sales tools to identify buying signals, personalize messaging, and research prospects at scale. Working closely with Marketing and Sales, you’ll help refine target accounts, qualification processes, and go-to-market messaging. The role offers strong visibility and structured development opportunities toward full-cycle sales, customer success, and other go-to-market career paths.
- Build and execute high-volume, multi-channel outbound sequences using cold calls, personalized emails, LinkedIn outreach, and other prospecting channels.
- Respond to inbound leads promptly and provide prospective customers with a smooth, informative experience.
- Research potential accounts using Ideal Customer Profile criteria, sales tools, networks, and targeted lists to identify qualified opportunities.
- Use AI-powered tools to research prospects, identify buying signals, and personalize outreach around each agency’s specific challenges and needs.
- Identify decision-makers, influencers, and potential champions within target organizations and develop multi-threaded engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop target account lists, call strategies, messaging, and initiatives that increase market awareness.
- Partner with Sales Executives to ensure qualified leads are handed over smoothly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain an active prospect pipeline while gathering information, qualifying interest, and progressing opportunities.
- Keep Salesforce up to date by recording activities, maintaining accurate contact information, and identifying ideal accounts within the assigned territory.
- Continuously improve lead qualification processes and outreach strategies based on performance data.
- Track personal prospecting metrics, analyze results, and adjust activities to improve conversion and meeting-booking performance.
- Share prospect feedback, objections, market intelligence, and competitive insights with the broader team to strengthen messaging and go-to-market strategies.
- 1–3+ years of relevant B2B sales and/or GovTech experience.
- Strong confidence and comfort with cold calling prospective customers by phone.
- Experience explaining technical or complex solutions to key stakeholders.
- Experience using Salesforce and Dialpad.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to create clear, compelling outreach.
- Experience using AI sales tools for prospect research and outreach personalization.
- Data-driven approach to outbound sales, with the ability to track personal metrics, interpret results, and proactively adjust performance.
- Coachable, self-aware, and receptive to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Curious mindset with a willingness to ask thoughtful questions and understand prospect challenges in depth.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and retain substantial amounts of product and market information.
- Strong ownership, accountability, communication, and customer-focused mindset.
- Experience in community development, including permitting, planning, licensing, or code enforcement, is an asset.
- Demonstrated quota attainment is an asset.
- Consultative selling experience is an asset.
- Interest in government technology, local governments, public policy, community development, or land development is an asset.
- Remote position in Canada.
- Base salary of $60,000–$70,000, depending on skills, experience, qualifications, internal pay equity, and broader compensation philosophy.
