Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Undergraduate Admissions, the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission plays a key role in the execution of Clark University's undergraduate recruitment and enrollment strategy. The Associate Director is responsible for managing an assigned recruitment territory, evaluating applications, representing the University at recruitment events, supervising admissions staff, and developing innovative outreach initiatives that support institutional enrollment goals.

The Associate Director serves as a visible representative of Clark University both on and off campus and collaborates closely with admission colleagues, campus partners, alumni, counselors, and families to promote the University's distinctive educational experience. The successful candidate will bring strong relationship-building skills, strategic thinking, data-informed decision making, and a commitment to providing an exceptional experience for prospective students and families.

Primary Responsibilities

Travel and Recruitment

  • Conduct 6 to 8 weeks of recruitment travel throughout the year
  • Manage recruitment efforts within assigned territories to support institutional enrollment objectives
  • Coordinate all aspects of territory management, including travel planning, school visits, college fairs, alumni events, and other recruitment activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, community-based organizations, and other external partners
  • Conduct admissions interviews and represent Clark University through presentations, information sessions, and recruitment programming

First-Year Application Review

  • Review and evaluate undergraduate applications in accordance with admissions policies, enrollment priorities, and holistic review practices
  • Make recommendations regarding admissions decisions and participate actively in committee discussions

Campus Visitor Experience and Counselor of the Day Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for prospective students and families visiting campus
  • Conduct information sessions, admissions interviews, and other visitor engagement programs designed to communicate the value of a Clark education
  • Perform Counselor of the Day responsibilities, including responding to inquiries, addressing visitor concerns, and providing admissions guidance
  • Partner with campus stakeholders to ensure a welcoming, informative, and student-centered campus visit experience

Leadership, Staff Supervision, and Special Projects

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop assigned admissions staff to support individual growth and departmental success
  • Serve as a resource and leader within the Undergraduate Admissions team, providing guidance on recruitment strategy, territory management, and student engagement initiatives
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of one or more functional areas within Undergraduate Admissions, such as family engagement, counselor relations, or special enrollment initiatives
  • Participate in departmental committees, cross-functional projects, and university initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered team culture

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records and data within the University's CRM system and related enrollment management platforms
  • Prepare reports, analyze recruitment and enrollment trends, and contribute to data-informed decision making
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of Undergraduate Admissions and University Enrollment goals


Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years of progressive experience in undergraduate admissions, enrollment management, college counseling, or a related field
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing professional staff, student employees, or graduate assistants preferred
  • Demonstrated success in student recruitment, territory management, application review, and enrollment-focused initiatives
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the recruitment cycle

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong relationship-building, judgment, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to utilize data to inform recruitment strategies and decision-making
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to ethical practices and compliance with all relevant policies and regulations
  • Familiarity with admissions CRM platforms (preferably Slate) and enrollment management technologies
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered service, access, and inclusive excellence
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, school counselors, and campus stakeholders
  • Experience leading projects, initiatives, or functional areas within an admissions or enrollment organization
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment


Additional Information:

Expected Hiring Range: $51,700 to $68,150

Pay Transparency Disclosure:
The compensation for this position will be determined based on factors that include available budget, internal equity, and the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials. This range represents Clark University's good-faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting consistent with Clark's compensation philosophy and internal alignment.
