We are hiring a Vice President of Operations (multi-state).

The VP of Operations is responsible for the market’s full P&L, payer and referral strategy, operating model, and the Director of Operations team that manages the branches. The VP leads through the Directors of Operations rather than performing their functions directly, and devotes significant time to building the payer, referral, regulatory, and community relationships that position the market for sustained growth, while upholding Avid Health’s mission, core values, and standards of care.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Manages the market’s full P&L, including revenue, gross profit, and EBITDA. Develops and manages annual budgets in partnership with senior leadership and is accountable for the market’s financial performance and growth.
• Hires, develops, coaches, and leads the Directors of Operations, building a Director layer capable of running the branches, and holds Directors accountable for regional performance and results.
• Directs payer and referral strategy for the market, including payer enrollment, rates, and rate advocacy, and builds relationships with referral sources at the health system and community level.
• Oversees the operating model across the market, ensuring structure, roles, and coverage support the market’s needs and growth.
• Manages the market’s regulatory and legislative posture in partnership with Clinical and Compliance, monitoring state budgets, rate changes, and regulatory requirements in assigned states.
• Monitors the labor market in assigned states and ensures the market’s wage position and recruiting capacity support growth.
• Participates in the acquisition process and leads the integration of acquired operations into the market.
• Serves as the primary liaison between the market and corporate departments, ensuring accurate information flow, adherence to process, and early identification of emerging issues.
• Initiates and sponsors organizational change efforts and supports leaders across the market in managing change effectively.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA, DOH, and State Medicaid) and regulatory requirements across all branches. Partner with Compliance and Clinical Teams to ensure that all branches meet necessary standards and achieve positive results in state surveys.
• Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned to support the overall success and growth of state operations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and senior home care operations leadership experience may be considered.

Travel: Travel is required across assigned states. The employee must have a valid driver’s license issued by the state in which they work and a satisfactory driving record.

Skills:

• Excellent leadership skills and a big-picture approach to the work.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computerized systems and software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• An understanding of the geographical and cultural requirements of branch offices preferred.

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulatory requirements, with HIPAA and Joint Commission experience preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
