Job Description
The Caregiver will be responsible for day-to-day activities of participants in groups and as individuals to help meet their psycho-social needs. Caregivers will be responsible for helping to assess the group needs of the participants, help participants with completing ADL’s while at the Center, specifically assuring that the participants have their personal care needs met. The Caregivers are also responsible for fostering a team-focused environment as well as practicing Person Centered Care for all participants in their programming and care needs. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

Desired Qualifications:
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Education
- High school diploma or GED. Certified Nursing Assistant or Direct Care Certified required. Medication Aide preferred but not required. If you do not have Direct Care Certification we will provide after start date.
Experience
- 1-2 years long-term care experience, gerontological experience including dementia population preferred; must have effective communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and squat for prolonged periods; Ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 20 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds); Full use of gross and fine motor skills of the upper and lower extremities (i.e., writing in charts, assisting with toileting and incontinence care, assisting with meals, activities, etc.)

- Primarily inside in well-lighted, well-ventilated areas

- Works in a safety-conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safety violations or hazards to supervisor.

- Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with participants, families, visitors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective caring environment which ensures the self-respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each participant and facility guest.
- Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
