DISTRIBUTION TECH LAB - STORAGE AND DISTRIBUTION

Summary:

The Lab Supply Coordinator has several responsibilities: Monitor supplies, forms, and office supplies inventory throughout the laboratory and point of care testing areas, operate the Par Management System, utilize the Materials Management System effectively, assist with distribution of laboratory supplies, and process returns. In addition, the Lab Supply Tech will be assigned to support several Clinical Par locations. The position requires the ability to communicate and work closely and efficiently with others in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Listed below are the typical duties and responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Essential Functions:

· Perform a variety of stockroom functions including receiving goods and processing shipments for delivery.

· Inspect shipments of materials, equipment and supplies received; identify and immediately report shortages, damaged goods, expirations, or other discrepancies.

· Distribute incoming shipments according to established procedures.

· Audits system reports and statistics to monitor adherence to quality standards and takes corrective actions as necessary to maximize department efficiency and to minimize costs where possible.

· Reviews reports on ordering level guides for optimization on various items and updates and revises in terms of current item movement as directed by the manager.

· Maintain laboratory locations including upgrading bins, labels etc.

· Maintain laboratory stockrooms in a safe, clean, and orderly condition; participate in cleaning rotation.

· Receive telephone calls and provide information related to stockroom activities as required.

· Make deliveries as required, Load and unload trucks.

· Operate a variety of machines and equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, hand carts and freight elevator.

· Operate a personal computer and peripheral equipment, using modern software; operate a variety of other machines and equipment.

· Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

· Work closely with laboratory management to learn and to develop the best practices and procedures and find ways to increase productivity.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Has the ability to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications:

· Methods and techniques of handling equipment, materials, and supplies.

· Methods and techniques of shipping and receiving.

· Principles and procedures of record keeping.

· Modern office procedures, methods or materials and equipment including computers.

· Basic mathematical principles.

· Possesses flexibility and ability to adapt to new situations, procedures, and routines.

· Good work and attendance record.

Education and/or Experience:

· High School graduate

Mathematical Skills:

· Ability to perform basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability:

· Ability to prioritize and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations on a day-to-day basis where limited standardization may exist.

· Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities:

· Perform materials receipt and distribution activities.

· Provide information and assistance to staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner.

· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

· Skill to operate material handling equipment such as hand carts, pallet jacks (manual and motorized), cardboard bailer etc. for successful job performance.

· Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with faculty and staff.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle, finger or feel objects or tools. Occasionally the employee must reach, bend, kneel, climb, or crouch.

· Exert up to or more than 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects while using correct body mechanics.

· Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that require close vision.
