Job Description
General Dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages, responsible for the
diagnosis, treatment, and overall management of oral health services. This role requires a
blend of surgical precision, diagnostic expertise, and leadership to guide the clinical team.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate General Dentist to join our growing practice.
You will provide a wide range of oral healthcare services, from routine exams to complex
restorative and cosmetic procedures. As a clinical leader, you will collaborate with our
Registered Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants to deliver comprehensive treatment
plans while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnosis & Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough oral examinations using
digital X-rays and intra-oral cameras to diagnose diseases, injuries, and
malformations of teeth and gums. Create comprehensive treatment plans that
focus on the entire mouth.
• Restorative Dentistry: Perform procedures including resin composite restorations,
crowns, bridges, and core build-ups.
• Endodontics: Perform root canal therapy and open and med, for anterior and
posterior teeth.
• Oral Surgery: Perform simple and surgical extractions of erupted anterior and
posterior teeth.
• Implants: Qualified general dentists will place guided implants in patients who are
candidates for implant placement.
• Removable Prosthodontics: Design and fit dental appliances, such as dentures
and partials, ensuring proper function and aesthetics.
• Preventive Care: Oversee the hygiene department to ensure patients receive
proper cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants. When hygiene is unavailable,
to perform prophylaxis treatment, as well as SRPs.
• Emergency Care: Provide immediate treatment for dental trauma, infections, or
acute pain.
• Patient Communication: Clearly and simply explain diagnoses and treatment
options to patients, fostering an environment of trust and informed consent.
• Clinical Leadership: Supervise and mentor the dental auxiliary staff to ensure
seamless office workflow and adherence to OSHA and CDC safety protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted State Dental License (DDS/DMD).
• Education: Doctorate from a CODA-accredited dental school.
• Certifications: Current DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances and
active CPR/BLS/ACLS certification.
• Clinical Expertise: Proficiency in modern dental technology, including digital
impression scanners and computer aided design (CAD).
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership qualities, excellent chairside manner, the ability to
multi-task and handle high-pressure clinical situations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Completion of a General Practice Residency (GPR) or Advanced Education in
General Dentistry (AEGD).
• Proficiency in specialty areas like Invisalign certification or Implant placement.
• Experience with practice management software such as Denticon, Dentrix or Open
Dental.
