Job Description
Bay Cast Technologies is seeking a Field Service Engineer to lead and perform base plate installations at customer facilities throughout the United States. This is a hands-on, traveling position for someone comfortable working around heavy industrial equipment and coordinating installation activities from start to finish. The Field Service Engineer leads the installation crew, communicates with customers, and works alongside millwrights, riggers, contractors, and internal team members. When not traveling, this position supports upcoming installations by organizing and ordering materials, coordinating equipment, reviewing job requirements, and preparing installation documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel nationwide to customer locations approximately 50% of the year to perform and supervise installations.
- Lead and coordinate installation crews while on-site.
- Complete the standard base plate installation process, including rigging, aligning, rough leveling, drilling, epoxying anchors, grouting, and final cleanup.
- Read and interpret installation drawings, anchor-bolt layouts, and grout specifications.
- Safely operate rigging and installation equipment.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, millwrights, and rigging personnel.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and communicate problems to the Product Engineer.
- Ensure all required customer approvals and signoffs are completed.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain equipment and materials for upcoming installations.
- Maintain accurate field documentation, including installation reports, photographs, and grout records.
- Represent Bay Cast Technologies professionally at customer facilities.
- Follow all company and customer safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
- Experience in industrial machinery installation, rigging, millwright work, construction, grouting, or a related field.
- An associate or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and installation drawings.
- Working knowledge of precision leveling and alignment equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead a crew and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable coordinating and communicating with customers, contractors, millwrights, and other field personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Base plate or machine-foundation installation experience.
- Experience with cementitious grout products.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Forklift operation, crane signaling, or rigging experience.
- Experience supervising field crews or subcontractors.

Work Environment
This is a field-based, traveling position. Approximately 50% of the year is spent on-site at customer facilities nationwide, including overnight and extended stays, working around heavy industrial equipment, rigging, and installation activity. Occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime are required during active installations. When not traveling, work is performed from the Bay City, MI facility supporting upcoming jobs. A valid driver's license is required. Required to follow all company and customer safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required on customer sites.
