This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Traveling Superintendent based in the United States.
This is a hands-on construction leadership role responsible for overseeing commercial projects from pre-construction through completion. You will direct daily field operations, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role requires strong planning, scheduling, cost-control, and communication skills across a variety of commercial construction environments. You will serve as a key point of coordination between project teams, owners, building representatives, design professionals, and field personnel. Success means keeping projects on schedule, identifying issues early, and maintaining quality while protecting safety and client expectations. - Review construction drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes during pre-construction to identify requirements, risks, and coordination needs.
- Lead project start-up activities and develop comprehensive execution plans covering construction activities, sequencing, scheduling, and coordination through completion.
- Supervise daily field construction activities and coordinate all trades, subcontractors, foremen, and construction personnel.
- Monitor job progress, schedule performance, and project costs in collaboration with the Project Manager, including tracking Time and Material work.
- Provide accurate daily job-site reporting, including progress logs, documentation, and photographs.
- Verify drawing dimensions and field measurements for floors, walls, ceilings, and other project elements, identifying discrepancies and coordinating corrective actions.
- Communicate significant schedule impacts and project issues to the Project Manager and broader project team.
- Establish productive working relationships with owners, owner representatives, building managers and engineers, subcontractors, foremen, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Lead weekly construction meetings to review progress, upcoming work plans, coordination requirements, and project priorities.
- Meet regularly with subcontractors to ensure alignment on schedules, responsibilities, sequencing, and daily tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site while enforcing applicable safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Enforce building requirements related to noise, elevator use, security, tenant protection, and other site-specific regulations.
- Maintain appropriate construction barriers and controls for security, dust, access, and overall site safety.
- Proactively identify construction challenges and coordinate timely solutions to maintain quality, schedule, safety, and client satisfaction.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of project supervision experience, with 10 years preferred, particularly within commercial, restaurant, retail, healthcare, and/or industrial construction.
- Extensive knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, field coordination, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple trades and subcontractors while maintaining strong project organization and accountability.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, owners, consultants, project teams, and field personnel.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, anticipate project risks, and take proactive corrective action.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes from pre-construction through project completion.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment while maintaining attention to quality, safety, and schedule.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required by project assignments.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Procore is preferred.
- Strong commitment to teamwork, communication, quality, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
