Trike Mechanic in Downtown Seattle, Washington at Metropolitan Improvement District

The DSA/MID Ambassador teams play a vital role in living our organization’s mission: to create a healthy, vibrant downtown for all. Position Overview

The Trike Mechanic supports the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) Ambassador teams by maintaining, repairing, and organizing a fleet of approximately 60 electric trikes and other service equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring trikes remain safe, reliable, and operational to support daily field activities. The Trike Mechanic also maintains parts inventory, documents completed repairs and maintenance, and assists with fleet management and equipment tracking.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on the MID fleet of electric trikes to manufacturer and industry standards.
• Assemble and prepare new trikes for service as needed.
• Repair, build, and maintain wheels with an emphasis on durability, safety, and operational performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair electric drive systems, batteries, brakes, drivetrains, and other trike components.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and fleet condition.
• Monitor and track inventory of parts, tools, and supplies; recommend purchases as needed.
• Forecast preventative maintenance needs and schedule repairs to minimize fleet downtime.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure all trikes meet operational and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with training staff on proper trike operation and basic maintenance procedures when needed.
• Perform other fleet- and trike-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a bicycle, electric bicycle, or electric trike mechanic preferred.
• Knowledge of bicycle mechanics, maintenance practices, and repair techniques.
• Familiarity with electric bike/trike components, battery systems, motors, and controllers preferred.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs independently.
• Experience assembling bicycles or trikes and building or repairing wheels.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and inventory records.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. English is required; additional language proficiency is a plus.
• Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to customer service.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks associated with vehicle maintenance.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 – $31.00/hour. Downtown Seattle Association provides a comprehensive benefits package, including:
