Qualifications
The Traffic Engineering Intern will be mentored by and collaborate with top Engineering associates on our team. The position involves participating in the development of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), signal, lighting, and signing and pavement marking design for a variety of project types. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of Traffic Engineering and Transportation Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
- Prepare and revise plan documents details
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation
- Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
- Provide support to engineering and project management associates
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Program at an ABET accredited university
- Interest and/or prior experience in the field of transportation/traffic engineering
- Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment
- Willingness to work with different teams to meet project deadlines
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Prior internship or related experience
- Coursework that includes Transportation and Traffic Engineering
- AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience
- Experience or exposure to FDOT plans preparation and design standards
