General Information
This recruitment is based on the terms and conditions as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Please note that this is an entry level position, however, depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the most qualified candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level.
Responsibilities
- Performs mechanical work, including switching and tagging;
- Works independently completing O&M task packages as assigned;
- Performs active control of low to high-risk service providers;
- Troubleshoots various mechanical problems;
- Develops a working knowledge of company policies/practices/methods/operating procedures;
- At times after being qualified, be on-call;
- Racking Racks, build flashboards, rec area maintenance, repair/install/remove pumps/valves, mowing/embankment inspections etc.;
- Understands how our Power Plant works and its auxiliary equipment;
- Assembly/Disassembly of units when needed;
- Maintain qualifications once qualified, Crane, LOTO, etc.;
- Comply with all company safety rules, requirements, regulatory requirements, etc.; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a willingness to have MVR checked annually;
- Must possess advanced PC skills;
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology is preferred or equivalent combination of education + experience;
- Must be a team player, motivated and productive;
- Must possess print reading and trouble shooting skills;
- Requires roving between all hydro sites and areas; and
- Typically works under the direction of senior Technicians in higher classifications.
This position is represented by the IBEW Local Union 486. The filling of this position is subject to the terms and conditions of the governing collective agreement.
Pay Rate: $32.84/hour
MUST RESIDE WITHIN A 45-MINUTE COMMUTE OF THE WORK LOCATION OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE.
