POSITION PURPOSE
The General Laborer is responsible for performing non-technical maintenance and servicing on corporation vehicles, as well as general custodial duties on vehicles, in the shop, and around building grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The company will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities, consistent with applicable law.
- Perform general custodial tasks in designated work areas, including trash removal, sweeping, and mopping.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, and buffer/scrubbers.
- Move furniture, file cabinets, desks, etc., asrequired.
- Set up furniture, stages, mats, etc., forspecial events.
- Clean and disinfect items and areas using basic household chemicals (e.g., bleach, disinfectant spray, dish soap).
- Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards toappropriate authorities; report maintenance needs; respond to emergency custodial requests.
- Perform snow removal and special work assignments or cleanups as directed.
- Operate and maneuver 40-ft and 60-ft buses through facilities.
- Inspect, test, and change tires to ensure conformance to standards.
- Provide nightly non-technical maintenance to buses and non-commercial vehicles, including fueling, topping off fluids, and detailing.
- Use high-pressure steam hoses and detergent solutions to clean bus engines and vehicle parts.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position due to the need for in-person collaboration, operational support, hands-on infrastructure management, and training and development activities. This role isdesignatedas fully onsite and is not eligible for remote work.
- This position is regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Candidates selected for this role must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including drug and alcohol testing, and any legally required post-offer physical testing as a condition of employment. Employees in DOT-regulated positions are also subject to federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment.
- Ability to move and position self to work in confined spaces, and to move throughout the workday, occasionally between departments and facilities.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs to work on top of and beneath vehicles.
- Ability to use tools to perform non-technical maintenance work, including removing and installing small parts and components and regularly adjusting, assembling, testing, and operating equipment (Some tools will be provided).
- Ability to occasionally transport heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. through the facility and to the work area.
- Requires exposure to heavy machinery/equipment, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, some hazardous materials, and dirt/dust.
- Ability to work night and weekend work shifts and overtime on a regular basis due to assignment shifts being picked bi-annually according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
