Job Description
This role is responsible for transporting participants to and from designated locations, including Casa Central facilities, community destinations, and special events as needed. The Driver also supports Adult Wellness Center participants by providing assistance during transport and transitions to ensure safety. Routine issues or concerns must be reported promptly to the Transportation Coordinator. As needed, the Driver may provide direct support to Adult Wellness Center participants by assisting them during boarding and exiting vehicles in between pick-up and drop-offs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties
All drivers are responsible for always adhering to the rules of the road and are responsible for completing all agency-approved training. Maintain professional and respectful communication with participants, staff, and community partners.
Program Support
The role includes directly escorting senior participants from vehicles into the organization. The Driver offers courteous, patient, and respectful assistance, recognizing and accommodating a range of physical abilities and support needs. This position also involves assisting participants with mobility devices such as walkers, canes, or wheelchairs in accordance with established safety procedures. Throughout transport, the Driver observes participants for any concerns related to safety, comfort, or well‑being and promptly reports observations to appropriate staff.
Food Cart and Equipment Handling
Responsible for delivering, loading, unloading, and properly positioning food carts and related equipment at designated programs. This role requires careful handling of carts, containers, and equipment to prevent damage, spills, or food contamination. Following each delivery, the driver ensures that all food carts and delivery materials are returned to the appropriate location in a timely and orderly manner.
Safety Procedures
Responsible for ensuring the safety of the passengers by driving them safely to and from Casa Central facilities and reporting any mechanical problems to the Transportation Coordinator inspector and Director of Transportation. Drivers may be asked to work overtime, holidays, weekends, or special events.
Driver Checklist
Responsible for maintaining a checklist with the daily vehicle inspection routine, such as vehicle inspection, and mileage in & out logs. Ensures vehicles remain clean, safe, and ready for participant use.
Non-Driving Duties
In addition to transportation responsibilities, the Driver may provide general janitorial and facilities support as needed to assist with daily operations. This includes helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light cleaning and sanitation of common areas, assisting with waste removal and restocking supplies, supporting room setup and breakdown, and responding to ad hoc facilities needs. The Driver may also provide temporary front desk coverage when required and collaborate with facilities to support smooth agency operations.

Education/Experience:No specific education level is specified; however, the position requires the ability to read and write. Must have 3 or years’ experience driving a 15-passenger van or midsize 16+ passenger commercial bus.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

License:
Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class C. CDL with Passenger Endorsement is preferred to drive Casa Central buses which transport 16 or more passengers (including the Driver) and 15 passenger vans. Requires a Motor Vehicle Report and approval from agency insurance company to drive.
Certification:
Must be CPR certified in accordance with Council on Accreditation standards.
Remote Work/Technology (WIFI)/Mobile Phone Usage:Not eligible for remote work. A personal mobile phone is required and therefore eligible for mobile phone reimbursement.
