Truck Driver in Hudson, Florida at PAW EMPLOYEE LEASING SERVICES INC

The CDL Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating company-owned commercial motor vehicles to transport materials, equipment, products, or other loads to and from designated locations. The driver must follow assigned routes and schedules, inspect and maintain the assigned vehicle, accurately complete required documentation, and comply with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local transportation and safety requirements.

This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, dependable attendance, and the ability to operate a commercial vehicle safely under varying road, traffic, weather, and jobsite conditions.

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicles, trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Transport materials, products, supplies, equipment, or other authorized loads to designated locations.
• Follow assigned routes, delivery instructions, schedules, and dispatch directions.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
• Inspect tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, fluids, safety equipment, load-securement devices, and other vehicle components.
• Report vehicle defects, damage, mechanical problems, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
• Do not operate a vehicle that is unsafe or not legally authorized for operation.
• Verify that loads, tickets, delivery documents, and destination information are accurate before leaving the facility.
• Ensure loads are properly positioned, balanced, covered, secured, and transported in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Monitor the condition of the load while in transit and make adjustments when necessary and safe to do so.
• Safely enter and exit yards, construction sites, customer locations, disposal facilities, plants, and other delivery areas.
• Follow all posted site rules, traffic-control instructions, and customer safety requirements.
• Maintain safe following distances and adjust driving practices for weather, traffic, road, load, and visibility conditions.
• Communicate professionally with dispatchers, supervisors, customers, vendors, scale-house employees, and other drivers.
• Notify dispatch or management of delays, route changes, delivery problems, vehicle issues, accidents, citations, or customer concerns.
• Accurately complete and submit delivery tickets, load tickets, inspection reports, logs, receipts, fuel records, and other required documentation.
• Use electronic logging devices, mobile applications, radios, GPS systems, or other communication equipment as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with applicable hours-of-service and recordkeeping requirements.
• Obtain required customer signatures, scale weights, receipts, or delivery confirmations.
• Keep the vehicle cab, exterior, and assigned equipment reasonably clean and organized.
• Fuel the vehicle and check fluid levels as required.
• Assist with connecting and disconnecting trailers, hoses, covers, gates, tarps, chains, straps, or other equipment when applicable.
• Perform minor routine tasks such as replacing safety equipment, cleaning lights or mirrors, or adding approved fluids when trained and authorized.
• Protect company vehicles, equipment, fuel cards, documents, and property from loss, damage, or unauthorized use.
• Follow company accident-reporting, breakdown, emergency, and roadside-assistance procedures.
• Participate in required safety meetings, driver training, drug and alcohol testing programs, and company inspections.
• Maintain dependable attendance and report to work ready and legally qualified to operate a commercial vehicle.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

WORKS UNDER ROOF IN VEHICLE 80% OF TIME, SUBJECT TO HEAT, COLD AND HUMID CONDITIONS OF

FLORIDA WHEN OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. TRUCK CAB & BREAK AREAS EQUIPPED WITH AIR CONDITIONING.

OPERATES LARGE MOVING VEHICLES WITH PINCH POINT HAZARDS.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EFFECTIVELY AND SAFELY AT HEIGHTS UP TO 25 FEET.

SUBJECT TO OCCASIONAL HIGH LEVELS OF NOISE.

OCCASIONAL CONFINED SPACE WORK.

PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS :

DRIVER MUST CONSTANTLY BE AWARE OF OVERHEAD HAZARDS SUCH AS POWER LINES, TREES, AND

BUILDING OVERHANGS. TRUCK IS APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET LONG AND WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 20

TONS. MUST HANDLE TRUCK IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AND OCCASIONALLY CROWDED JOB SITES.

UNUSUAL STRESS :

IF TRUCK BECOMES STUCK ONA JOB SITE, DRIVER MUST ASSIST A TOW TRUCK OPERATOR OR LABORER

IN HAND DIGGING AREAS AROUND TIRES TO GET UNSTUCK. THE EMPLOYEE IS OCCASIONALLY EXPOSED

TO FUMES OR LOW LEVEL AIRBORNE CONCRETE DUST AND OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

WORKING TIME :

HOURS -- EIGHT TO TWELVE PER DAY

WEEK -- 45 T0 60 HOURS, SOMETIMES MORE

LUNCH/BREAKS -- 1/2 HOUR LUNCH BREAK MANDATORY

STANDING OR SITTING :

SITS WHILE OPERATING EQUIPMENT APPROXIMATELY 90% OF TIME AND STANDS 10% OF THE TIME.

LIFTING OR CARRYING :

ABLE TO LIFT AND CARRY UP TO 50 POUNDS AND ASSISTS OTHERS IN LIFTING EQUIPMENT OR PARTS

WEIGHING MORE THAN 50 POUNDS. TRANSPORT VEHICLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MOVING EQUIPMENT.

PULLING OR PUSHING :

REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO WORK IN AWKWARD POSITIONS TO COMPLETE EQUIPMENT WINDOW

CLEANING, FLOOR BOARD BRUSHING/SWEEPING, REFUELING AND LUBRICANT CHECKS.

CLIMBING :

UP TO VEHICLE CAB (4TO 5 FEET) AT LEAST 10 TIMES A DAY.
