Job Description
To assist the Director of Radiology and Radiology Manager in the day-to-day operations of the General Radiology Department. The supervisor must demonstrate technical capabilities in all areas of X‑ray. Assists with administrative tasks relating to personnel, fiscal responsibilities, regulatory compliance and quality assurance. Maintains and ensures hospital safety guidelines. Demonstrates initiative and timely follow through on all work assignments. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years directly related experience
- Associates Degree
- ARRT, MIRT, CPR Certified
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
Responsibilities:
1. Direct oversight (Hospital main campus, Epping, Hampton, Plaistow, Portsmouth and CORE locations) of gen rad workflow critiquing films for diagnostic quality, as needed. Supervises patient flow as needed, ensuring a skilled technologist is available for various exam types/sites.
2. Prepares monthly technologist scheduling for all locations. Receives and handles vacation requests. Call and holiday schedules. Receives sick calls and provides adequate coverage. Completes timekeeping.
3. Assists technical staff with protocols, difficult cases or other problems that may occur during patient examinations. Identifies areas of sub‑optimum quality and assists staff in improving these areas.
4. Assists Radiology Manager with established quality improvement analysis including collection of data. Assists with student education throughout the Radiology Department
5. Collaborates with Technologists to ensure communication and positive relationships between the various sites. Collaborates with Technologists to ensure communication and positive relationships between the various sites.
6. Works with the General Radiology Section Chief (MD) to ensure that each technologist works to acceptable quality guidelines. Communicates to staff feedback on image quality.
7. Conducts employee performance appraisals for direct reports. Assists with 90-day probationary reviews. Discusses strengths and weaknesses of employees prior to the employees review.
8. Assists radiology manager with providing a structured orientation to all new technologists Assists in the documenting of activity and progress. Strives to assist employee in learning and adjusting to work environment.
9. Maintains appropriate inventory control and records. Orders supplies to maintain operations. Validates technical supply deliveries.
10. Assists in developing the skills of other staff members in particular areas of expertise, as needed. Serves as a constant mentor/educator to the team. Provides ideas for continuous education program for staff annually.
