2nd Shift Machine Operator in Indianapolis, Indiana at Plastic Recycling, Inc

Job Summary: The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of grinding and/or baling equipment used to process recyclable materials. This role supports daily production activities by operating machinery, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment while ensuring compliance with company safety and operational standards.

Reports to: Plant Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt

Pay : $16.25 - $16.50 per hour + shift differential

Schedule/Hours:

This is an In-Person Full Time Position consisting of 5 8-hour evening shifts. The position is expected to work weekly from Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to achieve a total of 40 work hours.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Job Responsibilities

· Operate grinding and/or baling equipment and other related production equipment safely and efficiently.

· Move, load, and stage materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment.

· Assist with equipment setup, cleaning, and routine maintenance activities.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.

· Perform other production duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

• > 1 years of manufacturing, recycling, or grinding operation experience preferred
• Forklift experience preferred

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods; use hands and arms to operate machinery and equipment; bend, kneel, crouch, and lift materials throughout the shift; and communicate effectively with fellow employees and supervisors.

The employee must be able to:

• Lift up to 40 pounds
• Work in varying temperatures, humidity, moisture, dust, and dirty environments
• Safely operate forklifts and industrial equipment
• Maintain close and distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision necessary for operating machinery and completing documentation

Work Environment: This position works in a manufacturing and recycling facility environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, industrial noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures. Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
