Medical Receptionist
Advanced Allergy & Asthma | Ogden, Utah
Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday

Advanced Allergy & Asthma is seeking a friendly, organized Medical Receptionist to support our front office in Ogden, Utah. This position is the first point of contact for patients and plays an important role in creating a welcoming, efficient healthcare experience.
The Medical Receptionist greets patients, answers phones, schedules appointments, verifies insurance, collects payments, processes referrals and maintains accurate electronic health records. The right candidate is dependable, detail-oriented and comfortable managing several priorities in a busy medical office.
Responsibilities- Welcome patients and visitors, complete check-in and check-out, confirm demographic information and notify clinical staff of patient arrivals.
- Answer incoming calls, manage voicemail, take accurate messages and route calls to the appropriate team member.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments while reviewing provider schedules to improve patient access and workflow.
- Prepare new-patient paperwork, create patient charts and assemble patient information packets.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using the electronic health record system.
- Scan insurance cards and other documents into patient records.
- Process referrals and prior authorizations, including TRICARE and VA Community Care referrals.
- Collect copays and patient payments, issue receipts and accurately balance daily transactions and batches.
- Receive, track and follow up on physician and patient referrals.
- Monitor incoming faxes and distribute documents to the appropriate team members.
- Process medical-record requests and maintain accurate, confidential patient information.
- Print provider notes, orders, schedules and other clinical or administrative documents.
- Schedule eligible asthma patients using the Biologics workbook.
- Use Tebra, Relatient and other medical-office systems to complete scheduling and administrative tasks.
- Prepare routine reports and provide general clerical and administrative support.
- Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming reception area.
- Coordinate occasional provider and pharmaceutical representative lunches.
- Perform other front-office duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer service, receptionist, clerical or administrative experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Professional, patient-focused approach.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous when assisting patients who may be anxious, frustrated or unwell.
- Sound judgment and ability to protect confidential patient information.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic health record and scheduling systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy medical-office environment.
- Previous medical receptionist, medical front desk or healthcare administrative experience.
- Experience with patient scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, prior authorizations or medical records.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Experience using Tebra, Relatient or similar healthcare software.
- Experience processing TRICARE or VA Community Care referrals.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
The pay range for this role is:
18 - 22 USD per hour(Advanced Allergy & Asthma Ogden Regional )
