Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Emergency Department within a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center. This role is responsible for managing clinical, financial, and staffing functions while ensuring delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The Manager serves as a clinical resource and liaison between staff and medical teams, ensuring compliance, performance, and integration of departmental services with hospital objectives.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and management of the Emergency Department service line
Oversee clinical, financial, operational, and staffing functions
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies
Serve as a clinical resource and liaison to medical staff and interdisciplinary teams
Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies and procedures
Maintain department operations within budgetary guidelines
Coordinate services across departments to ensure continuity of care
Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate staff performance
Oversee disciplinary actions and employee relations within the department
Ensure staff competency, ongoing education, and professional development
Communicate department and organizational updates to staff regularly
Requirements:
Current RN license (Missouri or compact) REQUIRED
BLS and ACLS certification REQUIRED upon hire
ENPC or PALS required upon hire
TNCC or ATCN required within 1 year of hire
Bachelors or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Minimum 2+ years of recent acute care Emergency Department management experience REQUIRED
Certification in specialty preferred

Full-Time
Days (No Weekends)
Setting:
585+ bed acute care hospital
Level I Trauma Center
Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center
Services include emergency care, womens services, orthopedics, and cardiovascular care
Part of HCA Midwest Health system
Leadership oversight of main Emergency Department only
