Job Description

Job Title: Operations ManagerReports To: General Manager / Managing DirectorJob Purpose:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all day-to-day transportation and logistics activities. This role ensures efficient fleet utilization, on-time delivery performance, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and overall operational excellence to support the company’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Planning & Execution
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily transportation and logistics operations.
  • Ensure optimal fleet scheduling, routing, and dispatching to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor delivery performance and address any service deviations or delays.
  1. Fleet & Resource Management
  • Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle availability, and utilization rates.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles comply with safety and operational standards.
  • Manage drivers’ schedules, workloads, and performance.
  1. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track and analyze key operational KPIs such as cost per trip, fuel consumption, delivery accuracy, and turnaround time.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular performance reports for management review.
  1. Budgeting & Cost Control
  • Develop and manage the operational budget.
  • Control operational expenses by optimizing routes, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
  1. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across all operational teams.
  • Investigate incidents or accidents and implement preventive measures.
  1. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, train, and motivate the operations team to achieve performance targets.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
  1. Customer & Vendor Coordination
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, suppliers, and third-party service providers.
  • Handle operational issues, customer complaints, and service recovery when needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, routing systems, and transportation regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in using logistics management software, ERP, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
