Job Title: Operations ManagerReports To: General Manager / Managing DirectorJob Purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all day-to-day transportation and logistics activities. This role ensures efficient fleet utilization, on-time delivery performance, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and overall operational excellence to support the company’s business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Operational Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily transportation and logistics operations.
- Ensure optimal fleet scheduling, routing, and dispatching to maximize efficiency.
- Monitor delivery performance and address any service deviations or delays.
- Fleet & Resource Management
- Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle availability, and utilization rates.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles comply with safety and operational standards.
- Manage drivers’ schedules, workloads, and performance.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and analyze key operational KPIs such as cost per trip, fuel consumption, delivery accuracy, and turnaround time.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare regular performance reports for management review.
- Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and manage the operational budget.
- Control operational expenses by optimizing routes, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Promote a safety-first culture across all operational teams.
- Investigate incidents or accidents and implement preventive measures.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and motivate the operations team to achieve performance targets.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Maintain effective communication with clients, suppliers, and third-party service providers.
- Handle operational issues, customer complaints, and service recovery when needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of fleet management, routing systems, and transportation regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in using logistics management software, ERP, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
